Trade Waste Officer

Details of the offer

Location: Hamilton City Employment Type: Permanent Applications Close: 13 November 2024 Are you Hamilton City Council's next Trade Waste Officer? We are looking for a Trade Waste officer to join our Shared Services team. If you think it could be you, let's talk. What will I be part of? Joining our Trade Waste team, you will be part of the Co-Lab group, a multi-council collaboration which provides Trade Waste Services for participating Councils across the region. What does a day in this job look like? No two days are the same in this role! Typically, you will be out and about conducting audits on regional businesses ensuring they are meeting their consent conditions. Each business has a trade waste consent which is a written agreement to discharge wastewater to the sewer system with set conditions. One day you could be auditing a food outlet business, the next day an industrial/manufacturing business. You will also be responding to customer enquiries, processing consent applications to comply with bylaws, writing consents, investigating/resolving non-compliance, and commencing enforcement action. There are seven Councils as part of the Co-Lab group; therefore, there is a travel requirement in this role, usually just day travel; however, sometimes overnight travel is required. What's in it for me? You will always be learning in this role, there is lots of variety, and you will work with our regional partner councils. If you are seeking a role that will introduce you to the wastewater industry, then this is it. For this role, you must have: Confident interpersonal skills Excellent attention to detail Great time management skills An intermediate level of computer literacy specifically with the Microsoft Office Suite A science qualification/background/experience would be an advantage Current full New Zealand Drivers Licence What's the salary? From $74K per annum and negotiable based on skills and experience. View the Position Description Click apply Note that we'll be shortlisting as we receive applications – so don't muck around! As a council, we believe in creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and belongs. We value inclusiveness (Kotahitanga) – we respect and value the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents that everyone brings. As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to positively influence the lives of the community so that Hamilton's full potential can be unlocked making it the best place to be. It is important to us that we support you throughout our selection process (interview and assessments). If you have any access needs during this process, let us know in advance so we can make sure these are met. #J-18808-Ljbffr
