We are a not-for-profit organisation providing a toy lending service for children to enjoy a wide variety of quality toys, early sports equipment, and educational resources to support play and development.
We provide an accessible and welcoming space for community connection in a child-friendly environment.We currently have approximately 200 members, including families, carers, schools, and early childhood centres.
We are an inclusive service with many children with disabilities and different learning needs borrowing toys with their families or educators.
Most of the children using our service are aged 0-10 years old, though there is no age restriction, so teenagers and adults with disabilities also borrow toys.Our membership is multicultural and includes many migrant families who are new to NZ and keen to be involved in our local community.Position: Toy Library CoordinatorWe are looking for a Toy Library Coordinator to work 16 hours per week to oversee our toy lending service.
This includes:Providing a warm welcome to members and visitors.Maintaining borrowing records using our toy library software.Supporting the volunteers who are vital to our operations.You will need:Great customer service skills and comfort working in a busy environment where children are welcome to play and express themselves.Good computer literacy, confidence with numbers, and attention to detail to keep accurate toy records.Strong written and oral communication skills to build positive relationships with members, potential members, volunteers, and other community contacts.Experience in leadership or supervision of volunteers would be an advantage.Our current opening hours are Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturday mornings from 9.30am - 12.30pm.
The Toy Library Coordinator will work during our opening hours, as well as extra time for administrative 'behind the scenes' work.
The hours will need to include Saturday mornings, though there could be some flexibility in the other hours for the right applicant.
There will also be one evening meeting per month.For this role, we are looking for a team player who is also self-managing and able to prioritise a varied workload.
