Location: Hamilton City Employment Type: Casual roles available Applications Close: 1 November 2024 Here's your opportunity to join Hamilton Gardens, the premier visitor attraction in Hamilton! Our focus is ensuring visitors are surprised and enchanted with what we can offer and what they can discover. The Role As a Tour Guide, you'll play a vital role in elevating the visitor experience and connecting them with our unique living museum, spanning 4,000 years of human culture and civilization through stunning gardens. Lead the engaging 75-minute Highlights Tour, visiting 4-5 popular gardens. Fully engage visitors, helping them understand each garden's significance and creating a memorable experience. Connect visitors with the concept of Hamilton Gardens and ensure their enjoyment and education. Group sizes vary from 2 – 15 individuals with the ideal ratio being 10:1 guide. Tours start and finish at the Info Centre and can take place at any time during opening hours depending on demand. This includes Saturdays and Sundays. Will I be a good fit? Excellent communication skills, projection of voice, and confident speaking abilities. Positive energy, enthusiasm, and a focus on creating exceptional experiences. Warm and friendly manner, adding a personal touch to tours. Strong time management skills and pride in appearance. Prior experience in tourism, entertainment, or customer service (required). Fluency in a second language is highly advantageous, but not essential. If you already have a deep knowledge of Hamilton Gardens or gardening that's great, but if you don't that's also fine, training and resources will be provided; all you need is the desire and ability to learn. This role isn't for you if: You're naturally shy or struggle with public speaking as it is crucial to the role. Have difficulty speaking or understanding English, as this is a necessity. Being on your feet for at least an hour and a half doesn't sound like your cup of tea - a good level of fitness is needed. What we can offer: The casual vacancies are available for those who can step in when necessary and can take the reins to brush up on their work experience. Tours are held throughout the week and so you may be called in on any day between Monday to Sunday. What's the salary? The hourly rate starts at $27.80 per hour, depending on the level of skills and experience you can bring to the team and our visitors. Interested in getting going?
