An exciting opportunity has come up to be part of the team at Ulva's Guided Walks on Rakiura/Stewart Island! Ulva's Guided Walks is one of the original bird watching companies on Stewart Island. Our specialty is small personal tours, with knowledgeable, locally based guides. We offer bird watching and botanical experiences on Ulva Island and evening kiwi spotting at Stewart Island's Mamaku Point Conservation Reserve.We are seeking a multi-skilled superstar to run our office as well as lead our guided walks. This fixed-term position would involve the equivalent of full-time employment, including 20 hours of administration work alongside a minimum of 20 hours of tour guiding per week (with the potential to increase if desired) during our busy tourist season (September – April). The preferred candidate will be flexible with their working hours given we have both day-time and evening tour departures.The role is suited to someone with the following skills:Strong CommunicationCompetent with standard computer programmes – including online booking platforms and shared file systemsHighly organised and superb forward-planning abilityEffective time managementGood knowledge and passion for conservation and the flora and fauna of New ZealandFull training will be provided for both the administration and guiding portions of the role.This is a rare vacancy which gives someone the opportunity to have consistent, guaranteed hours throughout the busy tourist season, with future opportunities to potentially develop the role into a permanent position.
