Our Kura:
Highlands Intermediate School is situated in the north-eastern end of New Plymouth city in an attractive park-like environment, with a proud tradition of care and educational excellence for its students. It has 698 students and is co-educational. These years of education are unique. A challenging and exciting range of experiences for students and a really critical time in their lives. The individual identification of student needs, and the desire to support them to get to their full potential, can be demonstrated in an ever increasing range of learning experiences provided by the staff. The Staff, School Board and Parents are committed to providing the best possible education for our students and care for their wellbeing.
The role:
Student wellbeing is at the forefront of our minds as educators and we want our students to be able to access the help and support they need to allow them to feel good and function well. Our desired applicant is a Registered Therapeutic Social Worker who follows the Aotearoa New Zealand Association of Social Workers Code of Conduct and Highlands school values.
Some Key Responsibilities:

Passionate about Therapeutic Social Work with young people and their whanau / school
Energetic and excited about the opportunity to work in a school environment and make positive change
Desire to create and develop the role in the school, adding your own initiative and creativity
Work with staff to develop professional learning / resources around wellbeing needs
Supply board, staff and SLT information with needs and trends with our students (data)
Individual and Group sessions (in and out of the classroom)
Provide early intervention and short term interventions , referring to the external agencies if required
Help to survey community re wellbeing and next steps

Hours:
32 - 40 hours but these are negotiable to get the rockstar our learners deserve.
Permanent.
