Closing date: 11 Nov 2024 09:00 | Work Type: Permanent full-time | Salary range: $108,170 - $146,348 total remuneration inclusive of 3% KiwiSaver Employer Contribution
At Pharmac | Te Pataka Whaioranga, we endeavour to deliver the best health outcomes for all New Zealanders through investment in medicines and medical devices.
We are a close-knit whanau with around 170 kaimahi. We take pride in what we do, we work hard, and have fun along the way.
Nga uruatanga, our values, ground our behaviour and guide our thinking:
Whakarongo - we listen with intent and empathy to understand
Tuhono - we connect with people, communities, the health system and each other
Wananga - we draw on evidence and people's experiences to improve
Kaitiakitanga - we safeguard wellbeing for New Zealanders, now and for the future
How do you get the best value for money from the national budget for pharmaceuticals?
Essentially, this is the critical question that our Therapeutic Group Managers seek to address from rigorous clinical, economic, and commercial analysis of funding proposals to working effectively with clinicians and leading complex contract negotiations and the development of business cases. It's all about making real, tangible improvements to the lives of New Zealanders and helping ensure health sector resources are used as effectively as possible.
In this challenging and rewarding role, you will be responsible for managing Pharmac's funding activities within a range of therapeutic groups. You will analyse clinical, economic and commercial market data to develop funding proposals and lead contract negotiations with pharmaceutical companies.
This is a real opportunity to be at the core of our operations; influencing the practical intersect of evidence-based medicine, economics, and commerce.
Mohou ake | About you
Kua rite koe mo tenei mahi? Are you ready to make a difference? Are you solution-focused and comfortable working in a fluid and sometimes unpredictable environment? Are you motivated by contributing towards the quality of life of all New Zealanders?
Your high level of analytical ability and problem-solving will be critical when presenting clear business cases derived from complex scientific/clinical data, non-financial information, and financial data.
Your ability to work with ease with clinicians and senior stakeholders will be essential to your success within this role.
You may be currently working in a clinical role, health-related management or within the pharmaceutical industry. It will be essential that you can write to a high level and make recommendations in a succinct and detailed way. In addition to your pharmaceutical and/or health sector knowledge, you will bring proven project management and commercial negotiation abilities and be comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
The role has a level of autonomy and applicants will need to be self-driven to manage time-pressured work but also need to work as part of a team. You will be part of the Pharmaceutical Funding team and supported to learn and succeed in our fast-paced and dynamic workplace. We would aim to assign you to a therapeutic group you have some familiarity with.
Ko wai koe? | Who are you?
In your application, we invite you to share who you are, your personal values, your whakapapa, as well as your interests and motivations in applying for this role. We are interested to learn about your personal attributes, experiences, and the diverse perspectives you could bring to the role and Te Pataka Whaioranga. We acknowledge attributes may extend to having been gained outside of the workforce and encourage you to share these in your application.
We are a whanau-centered organisation and understand the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
To support our kaimahi and their whanau we offer:
Five weeks annual leave
Additional paid leave for our end of year close-down period
An annual $500 hauora payment for eligible kaimahi
Health Insurance corporate discount with Southern Cross
Paid Parental Leave support in addition to minimum legislative requirements.
Hybrid working - work from home up to two days per week.
At Te Pataka Whaioranga, we welcome all kaimahi with a mihi whakatau during their first month. For kaimahi Maori, we offer mihi whakatau on your first day, where your whanau and manuhiri are welcome to attend. As you come through our waharoa, you will be welcomed into our growing support network - Maori Caucus.
This role is Band 8, with a total range of $108,170 - $146,348 total remuneration. The appointment range is anticipated to be between $120,896 - $139,985 total remuneration, inclusive of 3% KiwiSaver Employer contribution. The appointment salary is subject to the preferred candidate's relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
We strive to represent Aotearoa New Zealand and the diverse communities we serve. We are committed to championing workplace inclusion and acknowledge that in order to do their best work, we must foster an environment where people are comfortable to be themselves and work in a way that best suits their individual needs.
