Port of Tauranga is New Zealand's largest port and international freight gateway. Our Container Terminal based at Sulphur Point offers a 24-hour, seven-day service for ship planning, ship operations, marshalling, on-board stevedoring, and reefer services.The Terminal operates in a competitive environment and has established itself as a service of choice by consistently achieving productivity rates among the highest in the world.We are seeking an efficient planner with a passion for logistics to join our highly functional and close-knit team.Role OverviewThe Terminal Vessel & Operations Planner role will undertake all aspects of terminal vessel and yard exchange planning, including the highly efficient coordination of cargo, resources, and labour.This is a highly rewarding role, coordinating a live operation to ensure cargo is managed in the safest and most efficient manner. Planning, problem-solving, and attention to detail are essential to ensure that we are responding to operational pressures and challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate terminal vessel and yard exchange planning.Manage cargo, resources, and labour efficiently.Respond to operational pressures and challenges.Qualifications and SkillsTo be successful in your application, you will be:An exceptional communicator;Passionate about learning new skills and developing your expertise in terminal operations;Able to deliver accurate results in high-pressure situations;Confident to work in heavy industrial areas;Capable of working within tight time constraints;An innovative problem solver with great attention to detail;Focused on delivering excellent customer service;Able to work in both a team environment and unsupervised;Strongly focused on contributing to a safe operating environment;Positive and approachable.Previous experience in vessel and/or container yard planning and familiarity with our Terminal Operating Systems, Navis N4 and Sparcs XPS, will also be a significant advantage, but is not a requirement for the position.This is a full-time position which will suit someone who is flexible to work rostered shifts. Tauranga Container Terminal is a 24/7 operation, and as such, flexible start times, weekend work, and some overtime may be required in order to meet our operational demands.Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand is required.Port of Tauranga is a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
