Port of Tauranga is New Zealand's largest port and international freight gateway. Our Container Terminal based at Sulphur Point offers a 24-hour, seven-day service for ship planning, ship operations, marshalling, on-board stevedoring and reefer services.We are seeking a logistics extraordinaire to join our highly functional and close-knit team at the Tauranga Container Terminal. This is a diverse role operating across functions such as rail, road and yard operations.It is a full-time position, working within a roster to ensure 24/7 coverage for our operations. Shifts are 12 hours during the day and night in a pattern that provides for equal time on and off.The role will undertake day-to-day operational functions with the aim of achieving the highest possible standards of customer service, safety, and operational efficiency. This includes:Efficiently planning the movement of cargo by rail and road;Handling customer enquiries and requests;Troubleshooting issues as they arise and providing solutions;Accurately and efficiently entering and updating cargo information;Coordinating the appropriate care of cargo;Creation of cargo movement plans and work instructions that ensure cargo is on time to meet export timelines.It is a varied and exciting customer-facing role which requires an individual who is self-motivated, diligent and organised.To be successful in your application, you will be:An excellent communicator who is positive and approachable;An adaptable and innovative problem solver with great attention to detail who is able to work under pressure and prioritise accordingly;Focused on delivering excellent customer service by dealing with others in a professional and considerate manner;Highly computer literate;Collaborative and committed to fostering strong internal and external relations;Strongly focused on contributing to a safe operating environment and maximising terminal operating efficiency;Confident to work in heavy industrial areas;Experience in a Port, Rail or logistics environment will also be an advantage, but is not essential.Port of Tauranga is an alcohol and drug free work place.
