Through our work in the community, we empower people to successfully re-integrate into society with renewed self-esteem, fostering independence.About the PositionAs a key member of the City Mission Social Impact Team the Tenant Advocate will make a vital contribution to the Mission, to our clients and to our community.The key focus of the role:First point of contact for tenancy requestsProvide assistance to clients to navigate their tenancy difficultiesBuild relationships and networks with all Christchurch City Mission TeamsThis is a fixed term/part-time position.
The days and hours of work are flexible upon mutual agreement.Ideal AppointeeWe are seeking a candidate with the following skills and experience:Level 4 certificate in health and wellbeing or equivalent combination of qualification and experienceExperience working alongside and supporting people who are on a journey of growth and change in their lifeExperience working alongside people with high and complex needsExperience in working alongside people with mental health issues, substance misuse and traumaExperience working in social services and/or related qualification preferred.Excellent computer skills with experience in use of Microsoft products, such as Word, Excel and PowerPointDemonstrated conflict resolution and crisis management skillsA working knowledge of social and community support services and networks in CanterburyKnowledge, and commitment to ongoing training about Te Reo, and Tikanga MaoriCommitment to a culture that fosters high standards of ethics and integrity, is personally trustworthy, delivers on promises and honours commitmentsThe ability to work largely unsupervised and to be self-motivated however also have the ability to also work effectively as part of a co-operative and mutually supportive teamThe ability to set and keep safe boundaries and recognize one's own limitationsAlignment with the ethics and values of the Christchurch City Mission, and the principles of Te Tiriti o WaitangiIn return, we can offer you a rewarding role within a fun and supportive team environment, where no two days will be the same!
