Telecommunications (Information & Communication Technology)Telecommunication Technician - Team Lead for Northland. ASRA Communications Limited has an exciting opportunity for the position of Telecommunication Technician - Team Lead who has experience of working with both MDU and SDU. We are seeking outstanding personnel to join our team. As a technician, you will be responsible for planning and carrying out installation of Fibre/Copper for residential and business customers, doing UFB, Maintenance, and ROW work as well.To be successful, you will be responsible for:Efficient in all aspects of Telecommunications network i.e. NGA / UFB fibre/Copper cable laying, blowing, splicing, trenching, troubleshooting, Cabling experience in commercial, residential, MDU, SDU & ROW.Fibre splicing, Copper Jointing, Fibre blowing, termination in patch panels, Optical Network Terminal and Fibre/Copper Termination Points in commercial and domestic properties.Mounting and Installation of BUDI, FTP, ONT and connecting to FAT, FFP and Cabinet/Exchange.Read and Design network plans, specifications and work areas to determine positioning and connections for equipment to be installed.Maintenance, testing and installation of cables/wires and aerials whilst making sure that they are performing at their best levels on the network.Be able to work in confined spaces and perform civil and scoping work which may include concrete cutting and reinstating, thrusting and underground work.Tracing and locating underground cable faults. Performing outside boundary remediation (OSB) to fix underground faults on both concrete and soft surface.Install RUG fibre optic cable, prep and splice, climb poles when necessary or by using operated bucket truck.Must have Fibre Blowing knowledge with different blowing tools including 2F, 12F and 24F.Communicating with UCG/Chorus team members, other contractors, vendors, and other resources to fulfill technical requirements.Surveying of customer property, and planning with appropriate methodology. Check access/entry points to access fibre/Copper.Experience in handling optical fibre test equipment and performing OTDR testing, Optical power meter, GPON activation, etc. (Optional)Strictly adhering to Health and Safety procedures on a daily and ongoing basis.Good knowledge with basic civil tools such as shovels, axes, cutters, cable strippers, vertical tools, 26W cutter.
