AgResearch has a great opportunity for a Technician to join our GenomNZ team at our Invermay Campus.
Genomnz is a commercial genotyping laboratory within the Digital Agriculture Group of AgResearch ( Working with the Animal Genomics team, GenomNZ provides genomic solutions including parentage assignment, genomic relationships and single gene tests for animal breeders and researchers in the agricultural and aquaculture industries.
The successful candidate will be responsible for co-ordinating, applying, and monitoring routine commercial tests/techniques through all stages of the DNA preparation pipeline.

Minimum and maximum base salary: $57,271 - $67,378
Hours work per week: 40

. What you will be doing Undertake a variety of key sample preparation tasks including processing samples, DNA extraction and quantification, preparing DNA for genotyping and sample archiving. Provide technical support for other laboratory operations such as making solutions, assembling materials and equipment monitoring. Utilise the laboratory information management system and database to record and extract animal, sample or genotype information. Ensure current systems and guidelines for routine commercial laboratory practices are adhered to and write/update standard operating procedures in line with our accreditation responsibilities under ISO 17025. Liaise with other laboratory staff, data analysts and customer service staff regarding laboratory workflow. . Your ideal background Tertiary qualification such as a Diploma or Bachelor's in a relevant Science discipline. At least 2 years technical laboratory experience preferred. An eye for detail and the ability to complete repetitive and routine tasks to a high degree of quality. Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft and Excel. Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills.
