Nga korero mo te turanga – About the role We are seeking a suitably qualified Technical Officer to join a team of highly professional, dedicated Arts staff. In this varied role, you will provide high-quality technical support for School of Arts staff and students in the areas of audio-visual (photography and video), multimedia and interactive production, 2D, 3D and 360 design work, music recording, sound engineering, and mixing.
Salary will be in the range of $69,199 to $82,228 per year based on skills, knowledge, and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate familiarity with creative practice and technical components in the areas above and be familiar with industry-standard software e.g. Adobe Creative Suite and Pro Tools. Communication, organisational, and time management skills are required along with proven troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in music and/or audio-visual media production and/or creative practice is required. Flexibility in terms of work hours is required and applicants must be available to work outside normal hours.

Te Wananga o Nga Kete the Division of Arts, Law, Psychology and Social Sciences (ALPSS) is a large and dynamic Division that includes Te Kura Toi the School of Arts, Te Kura Whatu Oho Mauri the School of Psychological and Social Sciences, and the School of Law, Politics, and Philosophy. The Division also has two research institutes: Te Ngira the Institute for Population Research (IPR) and Te Puna Haumaru the New Zealand Institute for Security and Crime Science (NZISCS).
The role of the School of Arts is to teach at undergraduate, postgraduate, and experiential (internship/externship) levels in the fields of Arts, including Environmental Planning, Music, Humanities, and Media & Creative Technologies. The school offers a range of papers in Arts, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
