About the opportunity | Te whiwhinga mahi
We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Officer to join our Analytical Science team at our Research and Development Centre in Palmerston North on permanent basis.
As a Technical Officer your analytical experience will contribute to the delivery of new product and technology projects in Fonterra Innovation pipeline.
This is a hands-on role, your main focus will be conducting specialist testing on dairy-based formulations and associated food ingredients. You will be responsible for testing novel sample matrices generated in a research environment, using a wide range of modern and classical analytical chemistry techniques.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing technical training as required
Ensuring laboratory work is in compliance with the Quality Management System, including validation of results prior to release
Calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment
Interpretation of results
Providing technical advice and guidance to laboratory stakeholders
Supporting strategic laboratory initiatives
About you | Ko wai koe
You'll have a diploma or degree in chemistry / analytical chemistry or similar discipline or 2-3 years' work experience in a dairy, food, pharmaceutical or commercial analytical laboratory.
To be successful in this role you will need:
Knowledge of food science, especially dairy products, is desirable
Experience with a range of analytical techniques, including HPLC, GC, IC, Mass Spec, ICP, NMR and several wet chemistry methodologies
A thorough understanding of quality management systems as applicable in a regulated environment such as ISO or GLP
Experience using Microsoft Office applications and laboratory software systems (e.g. LIMS)
Ability to problem solve technical issues and lead analytical investigations
Able to work both independently and collaboratively when required.
Be actively involved in seeking continuous improvement in work practices and activities
Excellent communication skills, along with strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
