About the role | Mo te turanga: Awanui Labs - Invercargill is currently on the hunt for a dedicated, enthusiastic and competent Technical Specialist in Transfusion. This is a full-time position of 80 hours each fortnight, located in our Invercargill Laboratory.
You will work in partnership with the Laboratory Manager and Head of Department, Core Laboratory, to lead the day-to-day operations of the technical area and the performance of pathology tests. The Technical Lead will provide technical and scientific direction to scientists, technicians and trainees, to develop a cohesive team and maintain a commitment to providing a high-quality service.
To succeed in this role you will need: Registration as a Scientist with the New Zealand Medical Laboratory Science Council and holds a current/interim Practicing Certificate. 5+ Years of experience working in the blood transfusion area. Ideally have previously held a senior position/supervisory role within a team which included responsibility for training staff. Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills and the ability to use these for coaching and mentoring of others. A sound knowledge of laboratory operations including, safety, quality assurance processes, operation of equipment and hands-on practical experience.
