Te mahi/The role
Be the key point of contact for the University's shared laboratories and work with users (e.g., lecturers, instructors, students, and lab users) to ensure the safe and effective use of these facilities. Above all, you'll be driven to build great relationships and see successful customer outcomes every time. If your sharpest skills are your ability to keep customers happy and see problems are solved effectively and efficiently, you'll thrive.
You will manage schedules and oversee customer experiences to make sure students, staff, and other University stakeholders are empowered by their laboratory tech to succeed.
The wider team are supportive and are as eager to impart their skills as you are to learn, and if you've got ideas for innovating the way we do things, we're all ears.
Key tasks of the role include:
Delivering clear, reliable operational support and recommendations to stakeholders.
Fostering collaboration with facility users through user groups and communication channels to meet evolving needs.
Managing and enhancing Shared Laboratories services with current and prospective users.
Overseeing health and safety protocols, including new user training.
Identifying hazards and reporting incidents.
Documenting client interactions and desktop support activities.
Creating training materials and providing user training and demonstrations as needed.
Ka pukeka me ka wheako/Your skills and experience
Tertiary level qualification in a field, including extensive laboratory experience.
Proven experience working within a teaching laboratory environment.
Experience in university laboratory management or supervision role.
Budgetary and purchasing experience is an asset.

This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours a week) position based in Dunedin.
The salary range for this role is $75,380 to $84,656. Top of the range is $94,075 per annum.
