Team Leader Ridsas

Details of the offer

Dunedin Community Care Trust – Dunedin, South Island
Full time role for our RIDSAS Services (Regional Intellectual Disability Supported Accommodation Service)
We are delighted to be seeking a full-time Team Leader to join our RIDSAS team based in Dunedin. To be successful in this role your personal values will align with those of Community Care Trust: Respect, Reliability, Transparency, and Responsiveness.
About Community Care Trust:
Community Care Trust's Vision is a world that truly values and celebrates diversity. We work in partnership with adults and youth across the South Island who need some support in their lives to achieve their goals. We work alongside people to ensure they live the life they want and achieve their dreams and aspirations as valued and contributing people within their community.
Our organisation has a strong commitment to safeguarding children and any employees will be vetted to a level appropriate to the role for which they have applied.
About the role:
Our RIDSAS service is contracted to provide rehabilitation services to people with high and complex needs who have had contact with the judicial system.
As a Team Leader in our RIDSAS services you will be responsible for leading a team of Support Workers working alongside people in our community with the overall objective of providing a safe and supportive environment for both staff and people we support. This environment will assist individuals to develop practical life skills including household tasks, meeting education/vocational needs, cultural awareness, community activities and participation, building positive relationships with whanau and peers, and everyday problem solving and coping strategies.
Coaching and mentoring are a big part of your role; you will have great leadership skills and know how to relate to your support workers, people we support, and stakeholders.
You will have knowledge of the enabling good lives principles, and an understanding of what living a good life looks like.
You will walk alongside the people you are supporting, realizing it is their journey and allow them a space to grow.
This is a full-time, salaried position, with one weekend shift. You will also be included in the on-call roster. Occasionally, work is required outside of these hours, so a degree of flexibility is required.
Successful applicant will have:

A proactive and person-centred approach to support
Clear communication, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships and the ability to advocate and promote the voice of the supported person at professional meetings

It would be beneficial to have, (but not essential):
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field
Good knowledge of the principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)
To work for us you must:
Hold a current First Aid Certificate (or be willing to complete one at our cost)
Be eligible to work in New Zealand and have a valid visa with a minimum of 12 months until expiry
Hold a FULL, clean New Zealand Driver License
We can fill you in about what makes us unique at an interview or let us know if you have any questions by contacting one of the Human Resource team on 0800 800 001 and ask for Sandy or David.
