We're working towards making it easier for people to move around our city by creating a system that gives people transport choices for driving, walking, biking, or using public transport.About the role | Ko tenei turanga mahiDue to an internal promotion, we're looking for an experienced and motivated Team Leader to lead our Transport Activity Management team within the Infrastructure Group. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of highly motivated and capable asset managers, engineers and planners in a rapidly changing environment, working to ensure we deliver strong outcomes for Council and the wider community.Key responsibilitiesLead a team of people responsible for planning and strategies to ensure transport and roading infrastructure and services are maintained, future proofed, renewed and upgraded, in accordance with recognised activity management practices and in line with central government direction.Develop and implement the transport activity management plans to maximize the effectiveness of our transport resources.Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify and deliver key transport policies, plans and strategies.Monitor and report on transport programmes, contracts and budgets, ensuring accountability and transparency in all operations.About you | Ko nga pumanawa oTo excel in this role, you will need:A proven track record in managing teams, developing people and growing a great team culture.Demonstrated knowledge of transport planning, engineering and/or asset management ideally within a local government or consultancy environment.Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.Experience in managing budgets and delivering transport projects on time and within scope.A commitment to fostering a culture of safety and sustainability.What we offer | Ko nga painga mouAt Nelson City Council, we value our employees and strive to support their development and well-being.
