About He Hononga and Turanga | Mo He Hononga me Turanga
Turanga is Christchurch's amazing central library, located in the heart of our city. The facility and its services have received many accolades for its architectural design and cultural narrative as well as the range and quality of services it provides.
The He Hononga | Connection | Ground Floor at Turanga offers customers a warm welcome to the library. We offer magazines, newspapers, new book displays and promotional displays. Attractions include the Discovery Wall, Spark Place, Foundation Café, the main stairs (used for events), an exhibition space and a variety of spaces for work and leisure.
He Hononga is the arrival point for our visitors, regular customers, new members, event organisers, security guards and contractors. We ensure a warm, professional welcome for everyone arriving in the building. Our doors open at 8am on weekdays and 10am weekends and some public holidays.
Programmes and events comprise a mix of informal activities such as chess playing and puzzles as well as planned activities. We offer 'taster' access to the library's collections, services, expertise and technology, and we work in partnership with colleagues from across the Libraries network and the city.
About the role | Ko te mahi nei
As a member of our Turanga Leadership Team, this role takes responsibility for:

Managing a team of Library Assistants with the support of a highly capable Floor Leader, as well as our Library Advisor Social Inclusion and Operations Support Co-ordinator.
Working collaboratively with our whole Leadership Team to ensure the smooth and cohesive running of Turanga.
Ensuring staff are empowered to make good decisions, adapt to a variety of daily customer needs, and offer a welcoming service.
Developing training and development plans with team members to achieve personal and operational goals.
Collaborating with staff across the Library network, the Council and further afield on projects and innovations.
Supporting team members with diverse and sometimes complex customer queries.

Our successful candidate will:

Be a strong team player, leading by example and role modelling our shared values.
Be committed to advancing their skills and knowledge in library services and technology.
Be committed to supporting the Library in meeting its obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Nga Aho, the library's bicultural plan.
Have a proactive approach to problem solving, innovation and service delivery improvement.
Hold a minimum of level 7 qualification and recognised library qualification or equivalent, with a postgraduate library qualification being advantageous.
Have at least 5 years experience working in the Library sector, with proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

Location: He Hononga Connection, Ground Floor - Turanga Central Library.
Hours: He Hononga Floor is open 8.00am - 8.00pm weekdays, and 10.00am - 5.00pm weekends and most public holidays. This is a full-time (37.5 - 40 hours) role, with rostered hours that will include weekend and evening duties. As a member of our Leadership Team, you will be included in a roster that shares building-wide leadership duties across evenings, weekends and up to five public holidays each year.
Position: Permanent, full-time.
Salary: $101,882 - $113,202 (based on a 40 hour week).
