Our environment here is part of who we are, and at ORC, we work each day to look after it.The OpportunityOur Strategy and Customer team at the Otago Regional Council is looking for a Team Leader Governance to join the team on a full-time basis (37.5 hrs per week) in our busy Dunedin office.The purpose of this role is to provide leadership and advice on current and planned governance activity at ORC, with the support of the Manager Customer and Governance and General Manager Strategy and Customer as required.As a Team Leader Governance, you will be responsible for:Overseeing day-to-day operations of the ORC Governance teamActively contributing towards the Customer and Governance Leadership group, supporting the team culture of staff enablement, collaboration, and excellenceLeading organisational compliance with best practice, governance processes, and statutory requirements.Leading governance project work, including but not limited to management of election processes, by-elections, and polls/referenda, new triennium set up, capacity and capability building internally at ORC and local government processes.Ensuring that all elected members and appointed members are provided with a comprehensive induction following elections and have access to the appropriate materials and training.About YouOur ideal candidate will have:A tertiary qualification in Politics, Public Policy, Legal Studies, or Organisational Strategy5+ years' experience in a Local or Central Government environmentExperience working in a delivery focused environment that required operational legal complianceSkills and an interest in people leadership and stakeholder managementBe a creative problem solver, committed to continuous improvementWhat we offerWe recognise and celebrate diversity within Team ORC and are committed to providing a work environment that supports inclusion and equal opportunities.
