Te Wero – The Challenge
This role will ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality technical advice and decision-making for the transportation capital works & renewals programme. To achieve this will require effective leadership of the Capital Works and Renewals team by guiding, mentoring and coaching to ensure a supported, informed and high functioning team.
This position reports directly to the Manager - Transportation. The role is pivotal in providing regular updates and insights that support strategic decision-making in the Infrastructure Group.
The ideal candidate will possess:
NZCE, Diploma or Degree qualification in Engineering or relevant technical area.
BE, MEngNZ, CPEng would be an advantage.
10 years' experience in a related role.
A minimum of 5 years relevant experience leading a high performing team.
Experience working in local government or with local government as a supplier or funding agency.
Conversant with NZ Transport Agency standards, guidelines and funding processes.
Proven interpersonal skills and able to obtain collaboration and cooperation.
Well organised with the ability to independently prioritise and work to deadlines.
Sound budget management and financial reporting skills.
Ability to work in a complex work environment, deal with ambiguity and across functions.
Highly skilled communicator and facilitator with demonstrated experience in building and maintaining effective relationships.
The salary for this position is Grade 20 within Council's salary structure (Band: $113,143 – $133,109 pro rata per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
