At ZIP, our mission is to protect native taonga and restore te taiao (nature) by removing invasive predators across mainland Aotearoa. Zero Invasive Predators Ltd (ZIP) is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2015 by the NEXT Foundation and the Department of Conservation. ZIP is working to adapt and refine our elimination approaches to completely remove pests within the context of three landscape scale projects: Predator Free South Westland project , Te Manahuna Aoraki Project and Predator Free Rakiura .
Purpose
To identify and support personal and professional development for a team of 5-10 field rangers. Through empathic and strong team leadership, you will play a crucial role in enabling the successful delivery of the Te Manahuna Aoraki Project. You will work closely with the Project Manager, work leads, and the wider ZIP team to maintain a high-functioning goal-orientated team.
Tasks
Ensuring the team is healthy, happy, engaged and productive
Demonstrate and drive culture through the field team
Developing strong relationships with the field team and wider ZIP team
Supporting your team to make sure they understand what is being asked of them by the work leads
Comfortable voicing your opinions but holding them lightly
Managing situations proactively in the moment
Identifying and supporting development and growth opportunities for the team, including mentoring opportunities, to maximise the potential of your team
Administration, managing leave, rosters etc
Connecting with leads, and managers for context/support
Lead by example demonstrating a culture where physical and mental health and safety are seen as integral to success. Be aware of and take into account conditions that affect your own and others' health and safety
Actively look for opportunities for continuous improvement
Build strong relationships within the community and a range of stakeholders.
