This is a vital leadership role focused on leading a high performing team supporting the technical leadership and continuous improvement across the broader Environmental Planning Team. The wider team's work crosses the full spectrum of NZ statutory processes - from district plan reviews through to designations and consenting for projects. The team's focus is on providing technical expertise focused on:
Driving continuous improvement, best practice and innovation across the work of Environmental PlanningGrowing technical excellence in environmental planning, including standards, processes, and complianceSupporting the effective operation of the broader Environmental Planning team.As the Team's leader, your role is to work alongside the Manager Environmental Planning and broader Leadership Team to ensure NZTA remains an exemplar of New Zealand environmental planning expertise.

Support the Environmental Planning team's programme to drive excellence across all aspects of environmental planning at NZTA, supporting the growth of the team and the broader business.Driving a growth and continuous improvement culture across all of the Environmental Planning team's work.Building and maintaining professional internal and external relationships and influencing effectively across the business.Providing high quality, pragmatic, and solutions-focused technical expertise in all facets of RMA planning and other statutory processes related to the necessary consenting and permissions required for NZTA works across design, delivery, and maintenance.Providing knowledge leadership across RMA planning.Representing NZTA in various forums, including regional and national planning forums.Ko koe tenei | About you You'll be an experienced people leader who can evidence success leading engaged, high performing teams.
