The role/Te mahi We are seeking an innovative individual to join our world-class academics in He Rau Kawakawa (School of Pharmacy) at the University of Otago. This role will support 200 and 300 level medicinal chemistry and medicines formulation and delivery teaching in a new Pharmaceutical Science degree.
Teaching Fellows support undergraduate teaching by assisting with preparation and delivery of course material, assessment and course administration duties. In this role you will be required to:
Facilitate learning by delivering high quality lectures, tutorials, workshops and laboratories as expected in the School of Pharmacy.Undertake mock labs to ensure sound experimental set up.Assist with setting up the laboratory classes, where required, and ensure all equipment is in working order and ready for use.Ensure the laboratories are run safely and chemical residues and biohazard waste are disposed of appropriately.Provide in-course assessment and feedback to students on their progress.Carry out invigilation, marking and assessment reporting in accordance with University guidelines.Assist with course administration and development of innovative learning tools and materials.Take an active interest in the activities relating to the School.Meet all compliance and reporting requirements.Work collegially with staff and students in the School and University.Minimum Requirements: A Masters degree or above (in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicinal Chemistry or a related discipline), and may hold or be studying towards a higher degree.Teaching experience at the undergraduate levels.Good communication skills and an ability to work co-operatively with others.Evidence of an ability to work well with students and staff from differing academic and cultural backgrounds and at all levels of the institution.This is a part-time (0.8 FTE), fixed term position until October 2025. This role is based in Dunedin.
The appointment range for this role is $70,692 to $82,008 per annum (pro-rata).
