GSL Education are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) with experience in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Special Educational Needs (SEN), or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) to join a school in Christchurch. This is an excellent opportunity to help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Part-time arrangements can be offered to the right candidate, depending on their availability and experience. As a Teaching Assistant, you will support students with SEN, working alongside the class teacher to address learning challenges and promote their academic and personal growth. You will contribute to creating an inclusive classroom environment, monitor progress, and foster positive relationships, encouraging social and emotional development.
Responsibilities: Provide tailored support for students with ASD, SEN, and SEMH, offering individualised assistance to help them overcome barriers to learning and engage fully in their education.Assist in delivering learning activities and classroom management, supporting the class teacher in preparing and delivering lessons, while ensuring effective classroom management for a positive learning environment.Foster positive relationships with students by building strong, trusting connections to encourage participation and promote social and emotional development.Contribute to maintaining an inclusive and safe learning environment, ensuring that the classroom remains welcoming, supportive, and safe for all students, where everyone feels valued and respected.Assist students in developing their independence and confidence, supporting their growth and encouraging them to take ownership of their learning.Collaborate with the SEN team to monitor and track students' progress, working closely with colleagues to assess students' academic and personal growth, and offering support as necessary.Requirements: Experience in working with students with ASD, SEN, or SEMH is essential.Patience, empathy, and the ability to engage and motivate students.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.This is an incredible opportunity to work in a supportive school environment that values inclusion and the unique needs of each student.
