Papakura High School is looking for a full-time, permanent teacher of English to join our culturally vibrant department, commencing on Tuesday 28 January 2025.
Experience working in a high equity index kura or similar environment would be an advantage.
The successful applicant will have:
A genuine passion for teaching in a growing kura with a high proportion of Maori and Pasifika students (75%)
High expectations of students and self
A genuine commitment to raising student expectations and achievement
A high level of digital competency
The ability and willingness to teach collaboratively in a culturally vibrant environment and adapt or facilitate changes in teaching and learning methods.
You will also have the opportunity to engage in project-based learning that puts our students at the heart of all that we do.
There may also be an opportunity for the right applicant to take on a kaiarahi/dean role as a member of our pastoral team. Please state previous experience in this area in your application, if applicable.
New Zealand teacher registration and certification would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite for applicants. However, the successful applicant will need to obtain this before commencing.
The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $62k to $95k, depending on the applicant's qualifications and experience. Individuals' actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
