Due to the consistent growth in occupancy, BestStart Riccarton is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher in Training to join our energetic and tight-knit team.Our goal at BestStart Riccarton is to provide a welcoming, exciting, and safe atmosphere that fosters aroha.
We accomplish this by forming a collaborative relationship with the tamariki and their families, getting to know the tamariki needs and interests, and learning about the goals their parents have for them.
We believe children learn from hands on experiences, our Kaiako setup environments for children to explore and take control of their own learning.
BestStart Riccarton is close enough to the Riccarton Bush to hear the birds singing, we are in the heart of the community, only a few minutes away from the centre of town and close to our major bus routes.
Our Kaiako love setting up the environments so your child can be seen exploring a range of activities and we want out centre to be a home away from home.
We have multiple bilingual teachers, and all up we can speak seven languages so we can support children and families from a range of cultures.About the Role: If you are a motivated team player & have a passion for teaching young children and are currently enrolled to study in a level 7 ECE programme (ECE Bachelor), we want to hear from you.
You will be working in our Harakeke / Toddler room, alongside our energetic 18 month to 2.5 year old tamariki.
In this space we support children by setting up resources specific to each child's interests, curiosities, dispositions, and search for knowledge.
Our tamariki are encouraged to develop skills at their own rate and to understand their own abilities through unhurried learning spaces.
We have a large, natural outdoor area for our tamariki to challenge themselves.

This is a permanent position working 20-30 hours per week Monday-Friday.
We can be flexible for the right person; we can even accommodate school hours!

We will also require: Enrolment into a level 7 ECE Bachelor course Good understanding of child-led curriculum, planning and extending on our children's learning Demonstrate good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in a high regard A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality
