Due to our Teacher in Training becoming qualified, BestStart Kaiapoi is seeking a passionate and dedicated Kaiako in Training to join our long-standing and tight-knit team!
BestStart Kaiapoi is a beautifully designed childcare centre nestled in the scenic rural landscape of Kaiapoi. We are deeply connected to our community, and our localised curriculum is woven into daily life at our centre. Our strong relationships with local schools enhance our Set for School programme, ensuring a smooth transition for our tamariki as they take the next step in their learning journey. Our team includes many long-serving teachers with extensive experience in coaching and mentoring new educators.
About the Role:
We are looking for someone passionate about teaching young children who is currently enrolled in a Level 7 ECE programme (ECE Bachelor) and in their 2nd year of study.
This is a permanent position, offering 30-35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The role begins in January 2025, but an earlier start date may be possible for the right candidate.
You will be working alongside our over 2-year-old tamariki, a space where children are empowered to choose activities and engage in learning experiences throughout the day. Our teaching team are committed to crafting dynamic and enriching educational opportunities that are both enjoyable and stimulating for all children.

Role requirements:
Commit to making a difference in the lives of young learners with a team dedicated to excellence. We are looking for the following:
Experience working with children under 5, preferably in an ECE centre.
Good understanding of child-led curriculum, planning and extending on our children's learning.
Demonstrate good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whariki and hold compliance in high regard.
A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices.
Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality.
