If you are looking to regain your passion for authentic meaningful teaching, then you could be the right fit for our small rural school. Our kids are amazing and our class numbers are small (15-20 per class). We love our school ngahere and use this as an 'outdoor classroom' – our children are kaitiaki of our bush, gardens, chickens, beehives (and occasional pets). Tangiteroria School won the Northland Regional Environmental "Action in Education" award in 2022 for having a programme that empowers students to care for our natural world. Our school actively embraces tuakana-teina, student agency and a culture-of-care that fosters inclusion for all learners.
To ensure we have the right person join our team, our staff are prepared to be flexible. You may prefer teaching Teina (Y1-4) or Tuakana (Y5-8) - full-time or job-share. You will need to demonstrate your ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, and build genuine relationships with all students, staff and whanau.
As with most schools, there will be some PLD in literacy and mathematics, but we will continue to focus on complementing core subjects with other areas such as STEM and the Arts. Our school is vision is "Growing Great Kids" so if you have the desire and motivation to inspire, we would love to hear from you.
