Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacherEnglish, Learning languages1MU + 1MMAPapakura High School is seeking a full-time, permanent teacher-in-charge of ESOL to lead and grow the department. To start Tuesday 28 January 2025.We are a culturally vibrant kura with an increasing roll. We have a high proportion of Maori and Pasifika students (75%) and a genuine passion for teaching in this environment is a requirement. We have rapidly increasing numbers of students with English as a second language.The successful applicant will have proven experience in working in a high equity index school or similar environment. Previous experience leading in a secondary context would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite for the position.You will also have high expectations of self and students and a genuine commitment to raising student achievement. A willingness and ability to teach in a culturally diverse kura and adapt to or facilitate changes in teaching and learning methods is essential. A high level of digital competency is a necessity for the position.You will have the opportunity to engage in project-based learning that puts our students at the heart of all that we do.For the right applicant, there may be the opportunity to take on a Kaiarahi (Dean) role in the school or other responsibilities.
