Whakamaru School is seeking a passionate and committed teacher for a full-time, fixed-term position in 2025 to cover a staff member on study leave. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant, inclusive school community that places learners/akonga and their whanau at the heart of education.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging, culturally responsive teaching in alignment with the New Zealand Curriculum . They will create a supportive classroom environment that caters to the diverse needs of students, integrating Te Reo Maori and tikanga Maori into daily teaching practices. Building strong relationships with students, whanau, and colleagues will be essential, as will contributing to the school's kapa haka, extracurricular activities, and other cultural initiatives.
Applicants should demonstrate a passion for teaching, an understanding of inclusive education practices, and a commitment to fostering high aspirations for all learners. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are key, along with adaptability and a collaborative approach.
To be eligible, applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in Education (or equivalent), a current New Zealand Teacher Registration, and a Practising Certificate. Teaching experience is desirable but not essential.
