Teaching Aides & Special Needs (Education & Training)
Havelock North High School has a Teacher Aide position available in our Learning Support Department for the remainder of 2024. The position provides support to akonga with a diverse and complex range of learning and behavioural needs (Not ORS funded students).
This is a fixed-term position of 20 hours per week. Working days and times will be negotiated with the Head of Department. Experience as a Reader/Writer will be an advantage.
Our teacher aides are an important part of the school. The ideal candidate would:

Be calm, kind and patient
Be reliable and energetic
Have a reasonable level of physical fitness
Be open to new learning
Have a good level of spoken and written English
Be able to follow instructions and programmes
Have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
Have a proven record of reliability and trust, and be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
Have an appreciation of students from many ethnic backgrounds
Remuneration: Grade B-C of the Teacher Aide Pay Rate (SSSCA) with exact step to be determined through consideration of previous experience.
