They are the frontline of student support and need to be able to demonstrate patience and quick thinking around more vulnerable students. Teacher Aides also play a crucial part in the growth of student achievement through their work in the classroom and with individual students. They need to be able to support equity and excellence in the classroom. This position reports directly to the Assistant Principal / Learning Support Coordinator, supported by the SENCO. In this position you will:Assist the learning of students Assist teachers with individuals or groups in the classroom Assist the SENCO with strategies and support offered to students Assist in testing students for needs Contribute to the ongoing learning discussions as part of the schools vision and goals Form positive and professional relationships with students, staff, Parents, RTLB and the community Manage resources and meet deadlines as requiredAttend cultural PD to form cultural competencies You will need to:Scaffold the literacy or numeracy for students Advise SENCO of concerns about a student Knowing learning difficulties of students and supporting with strategies Liaise with teachers in planning Suggest other ways for individual students to approach material Lead literacy and numeracy groups Attend PD to develop own literacy and numeracy tools and understanding Reader/writer for SACs and other testing done in subject areas Support SAC students with internals Maintain confidentiality What do we offer?
