Te Wananga o Aotearoa (TWoA) is a uniquely and passionately Maori learning institution that delivers education and training throughout Aotearoa. As one of the country's largest tertiary education providers, TWoA operates on a nationwide basis, offering a wide range of qualifications from certificates to advanced degrees. By providing high-quality educational opportunities through Te Ao Maori, the organisation fosters positive transformational changes for all tauira. Currently, TWoA employs over 1,350 kaimahi across Aotearoa and has graduated more than 300,000 tauira since its inception. Reporting to Te Mana Whakahaere (Council of TWoA), the Chief Executive will lead the organisation with authenticity, providing strategic and hands-on leadership to develop and implement business plans aligned with the TWoA strategic plan, Te Pae Tawhiti. Leveraging their commercial and strategic acumen, the CEO will identify and capitalise on future opportunities within the evolving education and training sector, driving growth to further the organisation's koromakinga of tauira success, and whakakitenga of whanau transformation through education. As a champion of educational excellence, the CEO will ensure TWoA continues to deliver high-quality education based on the principles of tikanga Maori, the practices of ahuatanga Maori, and the kaupapa of TWoA. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge, passion, and appreciation for Matauranga Maori and the kaupapa of TWoA. Proficiency in Te Reo and extensive Iwi/Maori networks are preferred (but not essential), coupled with the ability to lead and operate within tikanga Maori environments. Key Responsibilities Proven executive experience with a strong focus on innovation. Demonstrated ability to lead effectively through transformational change. Strong commercial nous and strategic acumen, with the ability to look beyond the current organisational context. Personal alignment with, and commitment to, TWoA values, mission, and vision. Excellent people leadership skills with the ability to drive a strong team culture. Capable of serving as an impeccable role model for the kaupapa of TWoA and its long-term direction.
