Through integration and collaboration, we are rebuilding a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleThe primary purpose of the Te Waipounamu H&SS Planning and Capacity Manager is to support the transformation and service improvement work underway across the health system through provision of demand forecasts, capacity plans, and resource plans that enable operational teams' readiness and decision-making, and supports the visibility and management of patient flow across the health system.Emphasis is on production planning and control across the region, identifying performance improvement opportunities, and utilising associated methodologies and technologies. This will require taking a collaborative, facilitation, and leadership role in the design, development, and deployment of tools, principles, and methodologies that mandate and support the decision-making processes of our operational management teams.Expected outcomes and performance indicators include:Clarity on capacity and demand, capability, and constraints across the health system.Clear management processes in place which support decision-making across different planning horizons that recognise and seek to eliminate these constraints.Services and strategies meet population health and health system needs and patient experience is improved.Disparities are reduced, and Maori health outcomes are improved.There is continuous performance improvement in the delivery of services with a focus on consistency and value-added activity.Skills and ExperienceA relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience.A minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience in a similar role.Effective project/change management skills with a track record of using analytics and information solutions to deliver results.Effective relationship management skills with experience in influencing others to achieve desired outcomes.Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with experience in presenting information to a range of audiences.Ability to think critically, evaluate risk, operate effectively in a complex service environment, and prioritise competing demands under pressure.Strong organising, planning, and time management skills, able to multitask, reprioritise, and react to issues that arise whilst keeping calm and professional in demanding situations.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the weaving of wellnesses.
