Job Description He aha te turanga - About the role: The Te Manawaroa study aims to reduce barriers for Maori to access ambulance services by implementing a culturally designed, community-based first responder model in Kaikohe.
This project, a collaboration between Te Ropu Manawaora (Kaikohe, Maori advisory board), Auckland University of Technology, and Hato Hone St John, seeks to improve equity and clinical effectiveness of rural emergency medical services.
Join our team at Hato Hone St John as a Te Manawaroa Project Researcher.
Reporting to the Head of Maori Health and Equity in this role, you will be working closely with the Clinical Evaluation, Insights, and Research Manager, as well as Operations colleagues to actively oversee and participate in all facets of the Te Manawaroa research.
As a key point of contact for Kaikohe you will undertake ongoing whakawhanaungatanga in Kaikohe with the Te Ropu Manawaora and ensure co-design of the implementation and evaluation of the Te Manawaroa mana Maori motuhake model of Emergency Medical Services health delivery.
A doctoral degree is not required for this role, however, experience is qualitative Kaupapa Maori research is essential.
Qualifications Ko wai koe - About you: We are seeking a researcher to support the Te Manawaroa Project.
As a member of the Maori Health and Equity team, this role involves whanaungatanga, assisting with the preparation of ethics committee applications, recruitment of participants for project evaluation, facilitating and analysing data, and supporting our ongoing engagement with stakeholders.
In this role, we are seeking a researcher with: Knowledge of Kaupapa Maori research Experience in qualitative research (required) Experience in completing literature reviews and written reports Experience in integrating te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice and/or research contexts Can work autonomously and ask for support when required Ability to communicate and present information effectively Understands and is committed to the principles set out in He Whakaputanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
