Health Hawke's Bay – Te Oranga o Te Matau-a-Maui is the region's single Primary Health Organisation (PHO), covering a population of approximately 170,000. Mo tenei turanga mahi| About the Team and Role
Te Pou Tawa | The Maori Health Team's purpose is to improve the cultural responsiveness of primary health care in Te Matau a Maui, including through 'Te Kura Nui', Health Hawke's Bay's Cultural Responsiveness Programme. Our mahi includes developing and implementing initiatives that enable whanau, hapu, iwi Maori to achieve long-term health and social outcomes through Health Hawke's Bay's vision of Whanau ora, Hapori ora (healthy families, healthy communities).
This is a newly established 0.8 fixed term position (12 months) that focuses on increasing the capacity and capability of primary care services in the area of cultural competence.
Programme development, expansion and delivery, including co-facilitating wananga.
Te Kura Nui coordination and support, including programme administration, promotion of the programme, supporting enrolment, contribute to programme reviews and reporting.
Assist with creating relevant programme content and lesson plans for each module.
Ensuring the organisation's obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles are demonstrated in all day-to-day work.
Candidates will possess a unique set of skills and qualities that will enable them to have a positive influence on cultural capability and responsiveness within the organisation and with stakeholders.
Ideally candidates will have:
Adult teaching qualification.
Adult teaching experience or a broader teaching, facilitating or training background.
A good understanding and appreciation of Matauranga Maori including knowledge of tikanga and the ability to navigate and apply this in various organisational contexts.
Lived experience within Te Ao Maori, iwi, hapu and an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application.
Good communication skills, fluency in Te Reo Maori would be an advantage and the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal skills, a knack for building strong relationships and a proven ability to work with a diverse range of people.
Experience in bringing people together, creating inclusive spaces, and fostering meaningful dialogue.
Proven administration and coordination experience.
Knowledgeable in Maori models of health.
