Talk Therapist Specialist Mental Health Service Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Waitaha Canterbury – Greymouth, South Island
Permanent part time 0.6FTE - 0.8FTE (24-32 hours per week) based on the West Coast
NZ Registered Health professional with a Mental Health Scope of Practice & current Annual Practicing Certificate
Experience within specialist mental health and undertaken talking therapies training is essential
Working across both inpatient and outpatient settings
Mo te tunga | About the Role
Work across the coast (Northern, Southern and Central locations) as part of the treating team.
Provide individual and group treatment options by utilising evidence-based treatment strategies such as DBT, ACT, CBT and other proven talking therapies.
Integrate into the clinical teams across the coast providing input into treatment planning and evaluation as well as attending Multidisciplinary meetings when required.
We are looking for a Registered Health professional with either a Nursing or Allied Health background, who has the clinical skills required to assist people with current or ongoing mental health problems and to maintain their place in the community. This role will be working within the community and within our integrated model of care.

Excellent assessment and communication skills.
Flexibility to work autonomously as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Understanding and application of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, with a culturally safe and appropriate approach to practice.
A strong understanding of Maori health inequity and Maori population need.
Understanding of contemporary approaches to mental health and wellbeing.
Proven education and experience in providing talking therapies and/or group/individual counselling.
