This is a very special guardianship role where you will have a tangible impact on the environmental interests of the hapu represented by a significant Hawkes Bay based PSGE. This is a great opportunity to add real meaning and impact for MTT, based in their office in the heart of Ahuriri, Napier, and impacting right across their people. Maungaharuru-Tangitu Trust (MTT) is a Treaty of Waitangi Post Settlement Governance Entity representing the traditional area encompassing Keteketerau (the former outlet of Te Whanganui-a-Orotu) in the south, to the Waikari River in the north and from the Maungaharuru Range in the west to the coast and beyond to Tangitu (the sea) in the east. As their Taiao Manager you will be responsible for leading, managing and promoting environmental programmes on behalf of the organisation, with a focus on the needs and values of the hapu. Your leadership and reach will extend across the development, implementation and management of environmental policy, planning processes, cultural monitoring, restoration projects and consent applications relevant to the hapu's takiwa, including the implementation of aspects of the Settlement Deed. There will be a small team on the ground that you will be leading in addition to your wider strategic and policy-based scope. Candidates with experience and exposure across policy, planning, management, ecological and environmental practices and matauranga Maori will be considered seriously here. Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi alongside knowledge of Te Ao Maori will see you at home. You must excel in relationship and stakeholder management, with a proven ability to work effectively with whanau, hapu, iwi, marae, Maori landowners, and local and central government officials. Affinity for the Maori worldview and the ability to bring that into planning frameworks relating to the Maori environmental sector and contemporary issues will be regarded highly. RMA, Local Government Act, and Fisheries regulations knowledge will align well in this role. Remuneration reflects the broad scope and high level of responsibility, engagement and impact anticipated from this role. If you feel well aligned and you are keen to join this dedicated and committed team, then we would love to hear from you.
