This is a great opportunity to add real meaning and impact for MTT, based in their office in the heart of Ahuriri, Napier, and impacting right across their people.Maungaharuru-Tangitu Trust (MTT) is a Treaty of Waitangi Post Settlement Governance Entity representing the traditional area encompassing Keteketerau (the former outlet of Te Whanganui-a-Orotu) in the south, to the Waikari River in the north and from the Maungaharuru Range in the west to the coast and beyond to Tangitu (the sea) in the east.Responsibilities:Lead, manage and promote environmental programmes on behalf of the organisation, focusing on the needs and values of the hapu.Develop, implement, and manage environmental policy, planning processes, cultural monitoring, restoration projects, and consent applications relevant to the hapu's takiwa.Lead a small team while also engaging in wider strategic and policy-based initiatives.Qualifications:Experience in policy, planning, management, ecological and environmental practices, and matauranga Maori.Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and knowledge of Te Ao Maori.Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills.Proven ability to work effectively with whanau, hapu, iwi, marae, Maori landowners, and government officials.Affinity for the Maori worldview and the ability to integrate it into planning frameworks.Knowledge of RMA, Local Government Act, and Fisheries regulations.Remuneration reflects the broad scope and high level of responsibility, engagement and impact anticipated from this role.
