Our Sustainability Behaviour Change Team plays a pivotal role in driving initiatives that promote environmental responsibility and sustainability. We are looking for a passionate and experienced leader to join our team as the Sustainability Behaviour Change Team Lead.The Sustainability Behaviour Change Team Lead will lead a large team of officers to drive sustainability initiatives, implement behaviour change strategies, and oversee comprehensive sustainability plans such as the Waste Plan and Let's Go. This role is essential in defining key performance indicators, utilising behavioural science principles, and advocating for necessary policy changes to support our sustainability goals. The core focus of this role is people management, budget management and programme delivery.Tino takohanga - Key responsibilities:- Lead and support the Sustainability Behaviour Change team- Ensure work programme delivers on Council strategic pillars and results in positive environmental outcomes by monitoring key performance indicators- Utilise behavioural science principles to inform strategy development- Implement Waste Plan, Integrated Transport Framework, water conservation work and other sustainability related strategies and plans- Input into Council and Government reporting, manage and report on expenditure (e.g. MfE, Waka Kotahi, Council, etc.)- Develop and input into the drafting of sustainable policies and plans- Identify opportunities to support NPDC services and infrastructures through sustainability behaviour change initiatives- Advocate for necessary policy changes and updates to support sustainable practices and behaviour- Monitor and enforce compliance with sustainability-related policies- Prepare and present reports on progress and impact of sustainability behaviour change efforts to key stakeholders and management- Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation.Nga tino pukenga me nga wheako - Essential skills and experience:- Tertiary qualification in environmental management or psychology- Minimum five years of people leadership experience- Experience in project and budget management- Experience in driving culture change initiatives- Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills- Engaging with external stakeholders including mana whenuaHe aha ai a Taranaki? - Why Taranaki?With the stunning Mt Taranaki as a backdrop and the warm iron sands along our coast, it is no wonder Taranaki is one of the best regions in New Zealand and the world.
