Mo te turanga | About the Role
Melrose Farm is a day base situated in Kennedys Bush, offering one-to-one support and small group activities. Our activities are designed to help people achieve their goals and encourage participation within a nurturing environment.
Your key role will be to create and set up new experiences that provide our people with a variety of opportunities to guide their decision-making.
Role overview:
Mondays and Wednesdays: You'll primarily support Mike, a young man who thrives on physical activity. Whether it's hitting the gym, walking around the Port Hills, or swimming, Mike enjoys staying active. He also loves social connections and fun outings with the Melrose crew, including trampolining, mini golf, and ferry rides to Diamond Harbour. Mike values rhythm, predictability, and a calm presence to have his best day.
Thursdays: You'll work in a 1:2 ratio team, supporting individuals in exploring Christchurch's offerings like karaoke, walks, mini golf, and park games. Alternatively, you might stay at Melrose Farm, helping with cooking lunch, gardening, or DIY/craft projects.
You will be energetic, empathetic, and able to work alongside this person, focusing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve, and apply boundaries or offer space. Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You will be passionate about supporting and extending people's ability to access and be part of their wider community.

This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and is dependent on qualification level, paying between $23.15 and $28.25 per hour.

Your aroha and approach is what really matters at Hohepa – previous experience is not a prerequisite because we provide on-the-job training.
