About the Role - Mental Health Support Worker - He Waahi Kainga
We have permanent Mental Health Support Worker positions available within He Waahi Kainga Service. He Waahi Kainga is a service that provides support to whanaunga transitioning from Henry Rongomai Bennett Centre into the community. This includes wrap-around support for whanaunga including creating whanau plans, advocacy and connecting whanau to life skills services that support future housing aspirations and their ongoing wellbeing and needs. You will need to have a passion for working alongside our Mental Health whanaunga, so having a greater understanding of their needs is important. Great administrative skills and attention to detail are also crucial as this role requires a lot of admin work.

Position details
Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm. Please note on occasions you may be required to work outside of these hours, depending on the support needs of whanaunga.Starting from $64,480.00 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience, aligned with pay equity). A day in the role
Provide practical assistance with daily living activities such as personal care, household tasks, and transportation.Offer emotional support and companionship to whanaunga to help them manage their mental health conditions effectively.Educate whanaunga and their families about mental health conditions, coping strategies, and available resources.Maintain accurate and confidential records of whanaunga interactions, care plans, and progress.Assist in the assessment of whanaunga mental health needs and contribute to the development and implementation of individualised care plans.Provide support during mental health crises, including de-escalation and immediate assistance.Work alongside the Housing Navigator to ensure a full wrap around service is provided and the Housing Navigator has a greater understanding of the needs for the whanaunga when looking into finding them their forever homes. We are seeking a Mental Health Support Worker who:
Has 1-3 years working in a kaupapa Maori environment.Has experience in the mental health sector.Holds a level 4 or higher qualification in Mental Health and Addictions.Prides themselves on their ability to work to a whanau first, tikanga-based, wellbeing approach.Has an understanding and empathetic mindset in supporting whanaunga.Works to a holistic approach to wellbeing.Is great at working methodically and making things happen by using initiative.Has evidence of being fully vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19.Has a full driver's licence.Has proof of your right to work in New Zealand (minimum one year).
