Part time (8-10 hours per week - flexible)  Upper Hutt location About the Sisters of Compassion Group -Korero Whakapapa The Sisters of Compassion, also known as the Daughters of Our Lady of Compassion, was founded by Meri Hohepa - Suzanne Aubert in 1892 at Hiruharama - Jerusalem on the Whanganui River.
As New Zealand's first home-grown Catholic order, the Sisters cared for children, the sick, and the elderly throughout Aotearoa New Zealand and the South Pacific for over a century.
Today, inspired by the faith and action of Meri Hohepa - Suzanne Aubert, we continue our gospel mission by providing compassionate care in the community.
We work with volunteers and partners to offer meals, housing, and dignity to those in need, and to support the elderly, refugees, and families.
Additionally, we promote spiritual wellbeing through places of prayer, contemplation, and retreat.
Our services are spread across locations including Island Bay, Wellington, Upper Hutt, Horowhenua – Levin, and Hiruharama - Jerusalem on the Whanganui River, where we nurture our founding story.

About Compassion Housing: Compassion Housing is a registered Community Housing Provider and a charitable organisation of the Sisters of Compassion Group.
It has been providing housing for the elderly in Upper Hutt since 2000 and has taken over the ownership and management of the Horowhenua District Council's community housing portfolio in Levin, Foxton and Shannon.

About the role: Compassion Housing is seeking a part time Support Worker/Advocate Nurse to provide 8 – 10 hours of ongoing support to our Upper Hutt residents.
This includes visiting advocacy support for our elderly tenants.
You will routinely visit all tenants in our 88 Pensioner units in various locations in Upper Hutt by rotation over a month, taking time to identify those with specific or greater need for additional visits as required.
What you will bring: Prior experience in the health and disability sector is necessary.
A relevant qualification in the Nursing or Social Work fields would be preferable.Career experience that will assist you to identify and support geriatric mental health issues.A strong understanding of the pathways to access to Healthcare, Social and Government Assistance in the community.The ability to assess tenants who are not coping in their tenancy and to discuss with them and where necessary their family support required for the next part of their housing journey.A calm nature and confidence in daily interactions with our elderly tenants.Strong written and verbal communication skills.A clear understanding and adherence to the Privacy Act and Healthy and Safety in the workplace.A Full NZ driver's license and your own reliable motor vehicleComfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.Able to manage your own day to day workload.
What's in it for you?
An hourly rate of $35.00 - $40.00 depending on relevant qualifications.Mileage reimbursement for 20km per week based on the IRD rates.
