Student Attendance Support - Alternative Education Christchurch
This is a part-time role of 20 hours per week during school term time until the end of the 2024 academic year. This position offers an immediate start and will conclude on 11 December 2024. There is the potential for this role to be extended into 2025.
Alternative Education is a Ministry of Education initiative where we place and support disengaged students aged 13-16 years old into our AE provider schools. There is a large emphasis on progressing their learning as well as supporting students to re-engage in their education and make clear plans for their futures.
You will be working within a small team of four, facilitated through Cashmere High School. In this role your key tasks are to monitor student attendance, support and intervene with students and their caregivers when attendance becomes an issue. This will involve visiting our five AE providers located around Christchurch and talking to students and their teachers/tutors. Home visits are required at times.
You will also provide administrative support to our team (approximately 5 hours per week). The days and times worked will be negotiated.
We are looking for a person who has ideally worked with at-risk youth, has had some educational background, is confident with computers and basic software and data entry. Most of all, you will be able to relate positively with our young people and their families, be confident conversing with our teaching staff and colleagues and be able to make a difference in terms of attendance rates and positive outcomes for our students.
