Key Responsibilities:
Lead a dedicated team in protecting the Hauraki Gulf Marine Park and enhancing its marine health.
Inspire growth by developing a high-performing team through targeted training and development goals.
Contribute to groundbreaking legislation with the Hauraki Gulf Marine Protection Bill, making a lasting impact on marine conservation.
Supervise and develop a high-performing team, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and professional growth.
Create and implement SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound) goals to provide direction and accountability, fostering a sense of accomplishment within the team.
Organise training and development plans, recognising that team members will be at varying levels of expertise.
Recruit and induct new team members, ensuring a smooth integration into the team.
Collect content for use across various platforms, including social media, web pages, and newsletters.
Manage competing priorities, demands and identify solutions for critical pressures.
Implement the planning, phasing, and tracking of work programmes.
Prioritise health and safety in all aspects of team operations. This role involves travel, so you must be flexible to travel and work away from home for several days at a time as needed.
Skills and Experience:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about the Hauraki Gulf and its revitalization. You'll be a strong people manager with experience leading high-performing teams. Your organisational skills will be crucial in managing a diverse team with varying levels of development and training.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with iwi partners and diverse stakeholders.
Experience working in a changing environment, preferably on water.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a can-do-solutions focused mindset.
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in team management and mentoring.
An understanding of Te Ao Maori, tikanga, and whakapapa.
Experience with distributed teams and a commitment to health and safety, and experience of risk management.

The salary range for this position is $79,656 to $100,639, with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
