•Seeking a post-secondary student who is in school spring 2024 and returning to school fall 2024
Job Title:Marina Office & Rentals Manager
Job Location:Prestige Lakeside Resort Marina – Nelson, BC
Work Period:Mid to late April to end of August
Hours:30-40 hours/week
Wage:$20/hour (plus $2/hr. bonus for successful completion of the work season) – effectively $22/hr.
The office is located at the Prestige Lakeside Resort Marina in Nelson, which is a beautiful environment on Kootenay Lake.
Job Description & Primary Duties:
•Day to day operation of the office at the Prestige Marina/Nelson Paddleboard and Kayak Rentals
•Renewing annual moorage
•Making reservations for short term boat moorage
•Reconciling fuel sales, cash register and POS machine
•Docking and fueling boats at the marina gas bar
•Hiring and managing part-time on-call staff and scheduling
•Working with QuickBooks bookkeeping software
•Promoting, selling and coordinating rentals of Stand-Up Paddleboards, Kayaks & Canoes
•Utilizing social media and other internet marketing tools
•Updating website (photos, blog, guest comments)
•Early season and periodically through the summer there will also be physical work; landscaping, working with tools on minor construction/maintenance projects of external storage facilities and the marina.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant will be:
•Available and willing to work on weekends
•Personable & upbeat with proven customer service skills
•Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Proficient with the use of computers, word processing software and various social media tools
•Professional appearance and attitude
•Physically fit and strong enough to move kayaks and paddleboards around with one other person, or by themselves
•Preference will be given to candidates with experience around boats, kayaking, paddleboarding or canoeing.
Additional Details
•Start date is ideally mid-April and preference will be given to candidates available to work until Sunday, September 1; or part time through the fall. The minimum time commitment will be until Saturday, August 26.
•A $2/hour bonus will be paid for the successful completion of the full work season (at least until August 24).
•A student in any of the fields of business administration, outdoor recreation, management, marketing, hospitality & customer service will be well suited for this position.
