To be successful in this role, you will have the following key skills and attributes:
Passion to deliver an outstanding visitor experiencePrevious proven customer service/hospitality experienceCalm and organisedStrong English verbal communication skillsComfortable in a marine environment, and physically capable of dealing with emergency situationsUnderstands the importance of Health and Safety, and the responsibility of all staff to contribute to a safe working environmentTeam player, happy to undertake whatever tasks are required to ensure our guests have an amazing time in Milford Sound.In this role, you will be getting the boat prepared for sailings, preparing sandwiches and picnics for our guests, undertaking basic deckhand tasks, welcoming guests aboard, serving guests, washing dishes, and cleaning the boat to a high standard each day. You will be given full training and will be signed off on our vessels, in accordance with Maritime New Zealand standards.
These roles are best suited to people who enjoy the outdoors and are comfortable interacting with large numbers of guests in a shared staff accommodation arrangement. This is not the role for you if you are an urban creature who likes shopping, dining out, and a big choice of nightlife! Milford Sound is an amazing playground for exploring, hiking, making new friends, and building up your skills and experience in the marine tourism industry.
This is a full-time role, minimum of 70 hours per fortnight over a 10-day roster, which will include weekends and public holidays, and evenings. This is a live-in position, subsidised accommodation with private double room, shared bathroom, and a fully stocked staff kitchen are part of the job package. You must be eligible to work in the role until the end of the season (30th April 2025).
