As a StudyLink Officer you have an important role to play. You will engage and support a range of people with various backgrounds, ages and situations providing them with assistance, tools, and support to access our services.

Every action you take impacts New Zealanders' lives. Our team is responsible for delivering an end-to-end service that incorporates the assessment, processing and review of client information and applications.

What you'll be doing | He aha tau e mahi ana

As the StudyLink Officer Regional Services you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive support to students, offering accurate information, advice, and options regarding financial assistance.
You will assist students in making informed decisions about their financial support, ensuring they are fully aware of their entitlements and available resources. Additionally, you will work to promote Regional Service Delivery and deliver presentations to various audiences, fostering a broader understanding of the services provided.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting our clients to navigate and resolve often complex situations and queries. Our aim is to ensure that every client feels respected, listened to, and understood.
You will create a safe environment for people to explore options and determine what's most important to them.
You will empower whanau to take the lead in developing and achieving their goals.
You will build strong relationships and work collaboratively with others to enhance outcomes for our people.
You will develop and maintain relationships with your peers and partner agencies to give and receive support when needed.

What you'll need to succeed | Ko nga mea ka hiahiatia e koe kia angitu

The ability to work independently and collaborate with team members to assess client needs and develop tailored support plans.
Experience in a people-centred environment or previous job where you have built connections, resilience, and a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Strong relationship and negotiation skills on a one-to-one level as well as through group facilitation, with the ability to motivate and empower others to overcome barriers in a non-judgmental way.
Be purposeful: You will show care and warmth, give support to others. Look after the dignity of people through the expression of manaaki. You will be passionate about helping people from diverse backgrounds while being immersed within the community.
Be resilient: The ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding role. You will be highly dependable and have the grit and tenacity to show up and be in the mahi, bringing developed strategies with you to cope with pressure in an ever-changing environment.
Be open: You will have the ability to be fully present and listen intently without judgement to what is being said, empathising with whanau and their experiences, thoughts, and feelings.
Be strategic: to support whanau to set realistic goals. This will require strong planning and organisational skills. You navigate your way through computer systems with ease and enjoy taking ownership of your work and contributing to team performance.
Candidates must hold NZ Citizenship or a Permanent Resident visa at the time of application.
Please note - this position requires travel across the Taranaki Region, therefore a full clean driver licence is essential.

A salary band range from $68,660 - $83,003 with a realistic starting salary from $68,660 per annum. Consideration will be given to the successful candidate's individual relevant skills, experience, and other factors to determine the actual starting salary.
