Korero mo te Turanga | About the Role

Environment Canterbury hosts and manages the regional forums secretariat which provides secretariat and policy support for the Canterbury Mayoral Forum (CMF) and associated regional forums (including Chief Executives, Policy, Corporate, Operations, Communications and Engagement, and Economic Development Forums).

The CMF comprises the mayors of the ten territorial authorities in Canterbury and the Chair of the Canterbury Regional Council (Environment Canterbury), supported by council Chief Executives. The purpose of the Forum is to promote collaboration across the region and increase the effectiveness of local government in meeting the needs of Canterbury's communities.

This role will work as part of a high-performing team supporting the CMF and associated forums and will require an organised person with the ability to provide a high standard of written communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to multitask across several functions whilst working to deadlines, demonstrated political nous, and understanding of good governance.

The role is based at 200 Tuam Street, Christchurch, but the ability to attend offsite meetings is required regularly, and out-of-town meetings and overnight stays may be a requirement from time to time.
