About the role
We are growing and as a result we have a newly created role for a strategic buyer to come on board. Reporting into the CFO, this will be your step into senior management. This role will require someone who is proactive, self-motivated and has the ability to work well under pressure. You will be an excellent communicator who can communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people in all situations.
As the Strategic Buyer, you will be responsible for delivering Operational Excellence in cost savings, stocking and supply agreements, and improving efficiencies in Purchasing procedures and practices across the board. You'll represent the business at operational excellence reviews with corporate, taking responsibility for collating and fully understanding the data, challenges, and impacts, and being able to articulate these.
The primary purpose of this role is to manage the procurement of materials, goods, and services for the organization, ensuring that you are optimizing the cost, cash, quality, and service.
This role will serve as the gatekeeper before the purchase orders are issued and money spent to enable us to have more control over expenditure.
This is a standalone role responsible for facilitating robust procurement behaviors across the business delivering procurement, which is "fit for purpose", delivers "value for money", and to the extent possible decisions which are "futureproof".

The technical stuff you'll need includes:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A CIPS certification will be highly regarded
5 years' experience in a Purchasing/procurement role within the consumables industry
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive favorable outcomes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Broad exposure to all elements of best practice procurement

The skills you'll need include:

Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze market trends, pricing, and supplier performance.
Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Proficient in using software and tools to streamline processes and manage data effectively.
Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in contracts, pricing, and specifications.
Infrastructure and Industrial services industry experience will be highly regarded
